10 things to make this year the best year yet

We have big plans for 2019; to live intentionally while spending time with the people who matter, and cooking more adventurously! I don’t know about you, but good friends and good food help keep me grounded, especially when going through big transitions.

With such big plans for the year, we have been thinking about how to set ourselves up for success in the new year. Read on to find out what some of our favorite things are for achieving our best year yet…

Eating in DC: RPM

Eating in DC: RPM

Paul received a gift card for RPM for his birthday and we hadn't gotten around to going until now. It's a restaurant owned by the celebrity duo Giuliana and Bill Rancic. We had heard good things, and after checking out the menu, thought a happy hour visit would be the perfect way to check them out.

Exploring DC: Blogging from the Library of Congress

I've lived in DC for years, and have done my fair share of touristy events: tours, monuments, concerts, foodie meccas...you name it. And years ago I went on a Library of Congress guided tour when my parents were in town. I was battling the tail end of a migraine, so didn't fully appreciate it at the time, if I recall correctly.

But I recently found out that you can get a Library of Congress CARD. And you can work in a place that looks like THIS. Like a boss. For free.

Why a staycation is (sometimes) good for the soul

Why a staycation is (sometimes) good for the soul

I recently quit my 9-5 job and am so excited to start a new opportunity next week!

Being the traveler that I am, my initial thought when I knew I'd have some free time between jobs was: where should I travel during this down time?

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I needed a staycation. I needed time to breathe, transition, and recharge before the start of my new position.

This was a very foreign feeling to me. My general M.O. is "give me an inch (of PTO), and I'll take (several hundred) miles (to squeeze in some travel)!"

Eating in DC: Etto

Eating in DC: Etto

We had heard a lot about Etto and were excited to try it out for a delayed Valentine dinner, as I had finally kicked the darned sickness plaguing me!

The Atmosphere

We got there on the early side of the evening and enjoyed a nice table by the window. Per the usual DC scene, our table was right on top of another one, but it was alright, as our neighbors were pretty quiet. It's a small space.

The Drinks

We ordered a bottle of Nebbiolo, which is traditionally one of our favorite full-bodied Italian reds.
